Miniature Haunted House Silhouette Village
Create a spooky, miniature neighborhood on your fireplace mantel with a collection of silhouette haunted houses. Cut your 2×4 scraps into various heights, then use a jigsaw or miter saw to cut steep, dramatic rooflines, sharp gables, and crooked chimneys. Sand away any splinters, but keep the cuts slightly asymmetrical to emphasize the whimsical, cartoonish nature of a classic haunted house.
Paint the entire surface of each house in a deep, matte charcoal gray or pitch black. Once the base coat is dry, use a fine-detail brush to paint bright, glowing yellow or neon orange windows. You can paint some windows with tiny crossbars to look like window panes, and others with the tiny silhouette of a black cat or a spooky bat peering out. Line these houses up along a mantelpiece draped in black faux spiderwebs, and place battery-operated tea lights behind them to cast a hauntingly beautiful glow across your living room.
