Creepy Crawly Spider Block
If you love the jump-scare aspect of Halloween, this creepy crawly spider craft is a fun, tactile project that is guaranteed to catch everyone’s eye. Cut a thick, square block from your 2×4 lumber. Paint the entire block in a deep, glossy black paint, or use a textured stone-textured spray paint to give the spider’s body an organic, fuzzy appearance.
To create the legs, drill four small holes into the left side of the block and four holes into the right side. Cut thick, black chenille pipe cleaners or black coated wire into equal lengths, insert them into the holes, and secure them with hot glue. Bend the wires downward to create realistic, jointed spider legs that actually support the block, making it look as though the spider is crawling across your table. Glue several different-sized red or green rhinestones to the front of the block to create a cluster of glowing, eerie spider eyes.
