3. Egg Carton Bat Hanging Mobiles
Do not throw away your cardboard egg cartons this autumn season. Instead, turn them into an adorable colony of hanging bats that can flutter gently in the breeze. Cut an egg carton into sections of three cups each. Keep the middle cup intact to serve as the bat’s body, and trim the bottom edges of the two outer cups into curved points to resemble bat wings. Let your kids paint the entire cardboard piece with black acrylic or washable paint. Once the paint is dry, glue two wiggly eyes onto the center cup and draw a tiny, fanged mouth using a white paint marker or silver gel pen. Poke a small hole through the top of the center cup, thread a piece of black embroidery floss or fishing line through, and tie a knot.
