2. Mason Jar Mummy Lanterns

These glowing mummy lanterns are perfect for lighting up your porch or windowsill on a dark October night. This craft is incredibly tactile and uses materials you likely already have in your recycling bin. Start with clean, empty glass jars of any size. Have your kids paint the entire outside of the jar with a thin layer of liquid school glue or Mod Podge using a foam brush. Next, wrap strips of white gauze bandage or torn white tissue paper around the jar, overlapping the layers slightly to mimic a wrapped mummy. Make sure to leave a few small gaps so the light can peek through later. Once the wrapping is complete, glue two large googly eyes near the top of the jar, peeking out from between the bandages. Drop a battery-operated LED tealight candle inside, and watch your spooky little mummy glow with a warm, cozy light.
