17. Coffee Filter Bats
Create beautiful, tie-dye-style bats using the absorbing properties of everyday coffee filters. Flatten out a round white coffee filter on a washable surface or a baking sheet. Have your child color the entire filter with washable markers in dark shades like purple, blue, black, and magenta. Once the filter is covered in color, spray it lightly with water from a spray bottle. Watch in awe as the colors bleed and blend together, creating a gorgeous watercolor effect. Let the filter dry completely. Once dry, fold the filter accordion-style to create a pleated texture, then pinch it in the center. Wrap a black pipe cleaner around the pinched center, leaving the two ends pointing up to look like ears. Spread the pleated filter out on either side to reveal beautiful, vibrant bat wings.
