Spooky Chicken Wire Ghosts for the Lawn
For a truly haunting and ethereal garden display, chicken wire ghosts are unmatched. These life-sized, translucent figures look incredibly realistic when placed in a dark yard, appearing as if Victorian spirits are wandering through your flowerbeds. Because chicken wire is highly malleable, you can sculpt these figures into dramatic, flowing poses that catch the moonlight and create a chilling, artistic focal point for your outdoor Halloween decor.
Creating these sculptures requires roll chicken wire, wire cutters, protective work gloves, and optionally, a plastic dress form or mannequin to help shape the torso. Carefully wrap and mold the wire around the form, pinching and twisting the mesh to define the waist, bust, and shoulders. For the skirt, flare the wire outward in organic, flowing waves to mimic the movement of a gown. To make the ghosts glow in the dark, coat them with a weather-resistant glow-in-the-dark spray paint, or wrap them in white tulle and weave battery-operated cool-white micro fairy lights throughout the interior of the sculpture.
