Decayed Skeleton Lawn Graves
Turn your front lawn into a terrifying, active cemetery scene with decayed skeleton graves. This DIY project involves styling inexpensive plastic skeletons so they appear to be clawing their way out of the earth. By aging the plastic bones with paint and strategically placing freshly turned soil and decaying leaves around them, you can create a highly realistic, cinematic display that looks like a scene straight out of a classic horror film.
To achieve this look, purchase a budget-friendly plastic skeleton. To make the bones look aged and decayed, coat them with a mixture of dark brown and black acrylic paint, wiping away the excess with a damp rag so the dark pigment settles into the crevices. Dig a shallow depression in your lawn or garden bed, or simply pile dark potting soil on top of the grass to look like a freshly dug grave. Position the skeleton’s skull, ribcage, and hands emerging from the dirt, angling the arms so they appear to be pushing upward. Scatter dry leaves, moss, and twigs around the site to blend the display seamlessly into your natural landscaping.
