Wicked Witch Broomsticks
No witchy porch display is complete without a collection of rustic, handmade broomsticks resting against the wall. This organic DIY craft relies on natural materials gathered directly from your yard or a local wooded area, making it practically free to create. These broomsticks add an authentic, old-world fairytale aesthetic to your outdoor decor, looking as though a coven of witches has just parked their rides before heading inside.
To construct your broomsticks, search for a thick, sturdy fallen branch to serve as the broom handle; look for pieces with interesting bends, knots, or textured bark. For the brush part of the broom, gather a large bundle of thin, flexible twigs, dried tall grasses, or birch branches. Align the twigs around the base of your main branch, pointing downward. Wrap heavy jute twine, wire, or strips of dark leather tightly around the bundle several times to secure it to the handle. Trim the bottom of the twigs to your desired length, and optionally wrap the handle in faux ivy or battery-operated micro fairy lights for an extra touch of woodland magic.
