6. Vibrant Watercolor Jellyfish
Jellyfish are the ghosts of the ocean, making them the perfect subject for fluid, watery brushwork. To paint a jellyfish, you start by creating a dome-shaped wash of vibrant cobalt blue, pink, or purple for the bell. While the bottom edge of the bell is still wet, you use a damp brush to pull the color downward, creating soft, bleeding transitions. For the tentacles, you use a fine detail brush to sweep long, wavy, organic lines down the page. Varying the thickness and color intensity of these lines gives the jellyfish a sense of graceful, undulating motion under the sea.
