20. Celestial Crescent Moon

The moon has a magical, timeless appeal. To paint a beautiful celestial moon, draw a perfect crescent shape using a pencil. Fill the crescent with a wet wash of black, indigo, and deep violet, letting the colors mix unevenly to mimic the cratered, textured surface of the moon. While the paint is still wet, you can sprinkle a few grains of table salt onto the surface. As the salt dries, it absorbs the water and pigment, leaving behind beautiful, star-like textures. Rub the salt off once dry, and you are left with a stunning, textured cosmic moon.
