2. Sunset Silhouette Skyline

Capturing the transition of golden hour into twilight is one of the most satisfying watercolor experiences. This project focuses on mastering a seamless color gradient. You will blend warm lemon yellow into vibrant orange, which then melts into a deep magenta or royal purple at the top of your page. The trick is to keep your paper wet enough to let the colors bleed into one another naturally without creating harsh lines. Once this vibrant background is completely dry, you use a highly concentrated black or deep indigo wash to paint simple geometric shapes of city skyscrapers, telephone poles, or a lonely tree line. The stark contrast makes the colors pop dramatically, creating a gallery-worthy piece.
