15. Simple Desert Cacti

Cacti are naturally geometric and structured, making them very easy for beginners to draw and paint. You can choose a classic saguaro shape or a rounded prickly pear. Using various shades of green—from bright lime to deep olive—paint the flat shapes of the cactus segments. To add depth, paint one side of the cactus in a slightly darker shade to represent shadow. Once the green paint is dry, use a fine-liner pen or a tiny brush to add clusters of small spikes, starbursts, and maybe a bright pink blossom sitting proudly on top.
