10. Juicy Watermelon Slices
Nothing screams summer quite like a bright, crisp slice of watermelon. This project is a wonderful way to practice controlling your water boundaries. You start by painting a vibrant, curved wedge of pinkish-red. Leave a very thin, clean white line of dry paper directly beneath it—this acts as a barrier so the red doesn’t bleed into the next layer. Below that white gap, paint a curved stripe of light green, followed by a darker green edge for the rind. Once the painting is dry, use a fine brush with black paint or a black fine-liner pen to add a few teardrop-shaped seeds.
