Ghostly Handprint Keepsakes

10

There is nothing more precious to parents and grandparents than crafts that capture a child’s growth, making handprint art an absolute favorite for holiday keepsakes. This project is incredibly simple but carries immense sentimental value. To begin, assist your child in coating the palm and fingers of their hand with non-toxic, washable white tempera paint. Carefully press their painted hand onto a sheet of dark blue, purple, or black cardstock, ensuring all the fingers are spread slightly apart.

When you lift the hand away, the resulting print will look like a friendly little ghost, with the fingers forming the flowing bottom of the ghost’s sheet and the palm forming the head. Once the paint is dry, use a black marker to add two eyes and a mouth to the palm area. To make this a true piece of decor worthy of display, write the child’s name and the year at the bottom in gold or silver metallic ink. Frame the artwork in a simple frame to bring out year after year, creating a beautiful visual timeline of how much your little ghouls have grown.
