Yarn Wrapped Pumpkin Wreaths
Developing fine motor skills through wrapping is highly therapeutic and engaging for young children. This yarn-wrapped pumpkin craft is a fantastic way to keep little hands busy while creating a beautiful, textured piece of wall decor. Start by cutting the center out of a paper plate, leaving a sturdy outer ring that will serve as the wreath frame. You can also use a pre-cut cardboard ring for added durability.
Provide your child with a bundle of thick, chunky orange yarn. Tie one end to the ring, and let them wind the yarn around and around the circle until the cardboard is completely covered in a cozy, textured layer of orange. This repetitive motion is wonderful for hand-eye coordination. Once the ring is fully wrapped, secure the end with a knot. To complete the pumpkin look, kids can glue a brown cardboard stem and a green felt leaf to the top of the ring. Hang these warm, textured wreaths on bedroom doors or kitchen cabinets to add a touch of handmade autumn warmth to your home.
