Sponge Painted Candy Corn Art

12

Candy corn is the quintessential sweet treat of the autumn season, and its iconic yellow, orange, and white stripes make it a wonderful subject for vibrant children’s art. This project utilizes kitchen sponges cut into triangles, which serve as the perfect stamps for creating textured, patterned candy corn designs. This stamping technique is highly satisfying for toddlers and young children who enjoy bold, immediate results from their artistic efforts.

Set out three shallow dishes containing white, orange, and yellow washable paint. Have your child dip their triangular sponge stamp into the paints, keeping the colors aligned with the classic candy corn sequence: white at the top point, orange in the middle, and yellow at the wide bottom. They can stamp these sweet shapes across a large sheet of black poster board to make a bold pattern, or stamp them individually on cardstock to create custom greeting cards. The porous texture of the sponge gives the paint a beautiful, textured look that mimics the rustic feel of block printing, resulting in a piece of art that looks incredibly stylish and modern.
