Tissue Paper Mummy Collage
This Tissue Paper Mummy Collage is a wonderful, low-prep activity that keeps toddlers happily engaged while practicing their tearing and pasting skills. Tearing paper is an important developmental milestone that builds hand strength and bilateral coordination. Because mummies are wrapped in messy, overlapping layers, there is absolutely no pressure for perfect placement, allowing toddlers to enjoy the pure process of creating without fear of making a mistake.
Cut a simple mummy silhouette out of black construction paper. Cut or tear strips of white tissue paper, crepe paper, or even white masking tape. Give your toddler a glue stick and let them apply glue all over the black silhouette. Have them place the white strips across the mummy shape in overlapping, criss-cross patterns, leaving small gaps of black showing through. Once they are satisfied with their wrapping, glue two bright neon-colored googly eyes onto the face area, peeking out from behind the white bandages for a cute, mysterious finish.
