Leaf Monster Collages
Celebrate the changing colors of autumn with these silly and creative Leaf Monster Collages. This project begins with an outdoor adventure to collect fallen leaves of all shapes, sizes, and colors. Back inside, these leaves become the bodies of whimsical monsters. This craft encourages toddlers to look at nature through a creative lens, seeing a pointed maple leaf as a spiky monster head or a round oak leaf as a chubby monster body. Take your toddler outside to gather a variety of colorful fallen leaves. Once home, press them flat under a heavy book for a few hours if they are curled. Give your toddler a sheet of cardstock and some glue sticks. Let them glue the leaves down onto the paper in any arrangement they like. Once the leaves are secured, provide googly eyes, markers, and scrap paper. Toddlers can glue eyes onto the leaves, draw silly legs and arms extending from the leaf edges, and add wild grins, turning the simple foliage into a hilarious collection of friendly leaf monsters.
