Chic Cheesecloth Hanging Ghosts
Ditch the tacky plastic decorations and opt for these ethereal, sculptural cheesecloth ghosts that bring a sophisticated, haunting elegance to any room. To create these floating spirits, you will need cotton cheesecloth, liquid fabric stiffener (or a mix of white school glue and water), and a temporary mold such as a balloon resting on top of a plastic bottle. Cut the cheesecloth into long, ragged strips. Drench the fabric in the stiffening liquid, then drape it over your mold, layering the pieces to create a shredded, flowing gown. Once completely dry, the cheesecloth will hold its shape, allowing you to pop and remove the balloon. What remains is a freestanding or hangable, semi-translucent, hollow ghost. Hang them near doorways or heating vents where the slightest breeze will cause them to sway gently, mimicking a silent, gliding apparition.
