Eerie Specimen Jar Display
Create a mad scientist’s laboratory vibe in your kitchen or dining room with a collection of eerie specimen jars. Fill various clear glass jars with water and add a few drops of yellow, green, or blue food coloring to give the water a murky, preserved look. Inside the jars, submerge creepy items like plastic eyeballs, rubber snakes, faux brains, plastic spiders, or artificial human fingers. To keep the items suspended in the middle of the jar rather than floating to the top or sinking to the bottom, fill the jar with clear hair gel or floral gel beads instead of water. Place these jars on a shelf with a backlight shining up through the bottom of the glass, making the specimens glow with a grotesque, radioactive brilliance.
