The Fishtail Half-Crown

9

The fishtail half-crown combines the intricate beauty of a fishtail braid with the effortless vibe of a half-up style. This look is perfect for highlighting the multidimensional tones in highlighted or balayage chin-length hair. Start by taking a two-inch section of hair from above your left ear and splitting it into two equal parts. Create a fishtail braid by taking a tiny strand from the outer edge of the left section and crossing it over to the right section, then repeating on the other side. Continue this pattern until you reach the end of the strand and secure it with a clear elastic.

Repeat this process on the right side of your head. Once both braids are complete, pull them back to meet at the center of the back of your head. Cross one braid over the other, tucking the ends underneath to hide the elastics, and secure them with bobby pins. Gently pull at the edges of the fishtail braids to loosen them, creating a thicker, more textured appearance. This style is incredibly romantic and pairs beautifully with flowy summer dresses and soft, natural makeup.
