The Gibson Tuck
The Gibson tuck is a vintage-inspired updo that dates back to the early 20th century, yet it remains incredibly chic and relevant today. It is a wonderful option for chin-length hair because it relies on rolling the hair into a pocket, which naturally conceals shorter ends. To start, place a stretchy, elastic headband over the crown of your head, positioning it just above your ears. The headband will act as the anchor for your tuck.
Starting from the front, take small sections of hair and tuck them over and under the headband, working your way toward the back. As you reach the back, gather the remaining hair and roll it upward, tucking it securely into the loop of the headband. Use a few bobby pins to lock the roll in place and ensure the headband is fully covered at the back. This style creates a beautiful, pillowy roll of hair at the nape of your neck that looks exceptionally elegant and polished.
