The Low Rolled Chignon
The low rolled chignon is a masterclass in understated sophistication. It is a classic red-carpet favorite that transitions seamlessly to everyday wear. To create this look on chin-length hair, start by applying a volumizing mousse to damp hair and blow-drying it to create body. Gather your hair into a low ponytail at the nape of your neck and secure it with a thin elastic. On the final loop of the ponytail, do not pull the hair all the way through, leaving a small loop. Take the remaining tail of the hair, wrap it around the elastic to conceal it, and pin it in place.
To create the “rolled” effect, gently spread the loop horizontally and pin the outer edges to your scalp using U-pins. This creates a wide, elegant roll that sits beautifully at the base of your skull. If you have shorter layers that cannot reach the ponytail, twist them backward from the front of your face and pin them directly into the sides of the chignon. This adds beautiful texture and detail to the sides of your hairstyle. Finish with a generous mist of medium-hold hairspray to keep everything secure and polished throughout the day.
