5. Gothic Lace Embroidery Hoop Spiders

5

Bring a touch of vintage Victorian macabre into your home with lace embroidery hoop art. Select various sizes of wooden embroidery hoops and stain them a dark, rich espresso or paint them matte black. Instead of traditional fabric, stretch black tulle, fishnet, or intricate spiderweb-patterned lace tightly within the hoops, trimming the excess from the back. To create the spider, use black velvet fabric stuffed with a small amount of polyester fiberfill to form a plush, luxurious body. Sew delicate black seed beads onto the velvet for eyes and use thin, fabric-wrapped floral wire for the legs, sewing them directly onto the lace background. Grouping these hoops in a cluster on a gallery wall creates a stunning, dimensional focal point.
