16. Upcycled Book Page Spider Art
Give old, damaged books a second life with this literary-inspired craft. Tear out pages from an old book (gothic novels or classic horror stories work best) and mount them onto a sturdy canvas or heavy cardstock, overlapping the edges slightly for a collaged look. Lightly brush the edges of the paper with brown ink or tea to give them an aged, parchment appearance. Using a stencil or your own freehand drawing skills, paint a large, striking silhouette of a black widow spider directly over the text. The contrast of the bold black ink against the delicate, aged typography makes for a sophisticated and intellectual decor piece.
