Egg Carton Bats
Before you toss your empty egg cartons into the recycling bin, save them for this incredibly fun and eco-friendly bat craft. By cutting a standard cardboard egg carton into sections of three cups, you create the perfect biological shape of a bat: a central body flanked by two pointed wings. Kids will love painting the entire cardboard structure in deep blacks, midnight blues, or even vibrant purples to give their nocturnal friends some unique personality.
Once the paint has dried, use a hole puncher to make a small hole at the top of the center cup and thread a piece of black yarn through it. Kids can glue on googly eyes and draw tiny, white fangs using a silver gel pen or white acrylic paint. Hang these lightweight creatures from your ceiling fan, chandeliers, or tree branches outside to create a colony of swooping, swaying bats that dance with every passing breeze.
