Clay Pinch-Pot Pumpkins
Working with air-dry clay is an incredible sensory experience that allows children to explore three-dimensional form and sculpting. Teach your kids how to roll a piece of clay into a smooth ball, and then use their thumbs to press a well into the center, gently pinching the sides to create a hollowed-out pumpkin bowl shape.
Using a butter knife or a clay tool, kids can carve vertical ridges along the outside of the bowl to mimic the natural texture of a pumpkin. Fashion a small stem and leaf out of extra clay to attach to the top rim. Once the clay air-dries completely over 24 to 48 hours, kids can paint their creations with vibrant acrylic paints, creating a beautiful dish to hold Halloween candy or small trinkets.
