Haunted Wooden Pallet Coffin Display
If you love working with reclaimed wood, transforming a free wooden shipping pallet into a vintage, weathered coffin is a fantastic weekend project. Disassemble the pallet boards and lay them out to cut the classic hexagonal coffin shape. Nail the boards together using a simple interior support frame. To make the wood look authentically aged, apply a coat of dark oak stain, or water down black acrylic paint and brush it roughly over the surface to mimic rot and decay. Prop the coffin up in your garden bed, slightly propped open, with a faux skeleton hand reaching out from the darkness inside. Surround the base of the coffin with dead leaves, moss, and flickering lanterns to create a spine-chilling graveyard scene.
