6. The Two-Story Poplar Family Cottage

Not every cottage has to be tiny. This one is for when you want room to actually live — a kitchen downstairs, bedrooms upstairs, and a little balcony where you can watch the sun come up with a cup of coffee, or at least pretend to.
The trick with two stories is keeping the poplar light. I used white wool for the trim and kept the roof low and wide, so the whole house feels welcoming instead of tall and stiff. It’s the kind of place that feels like home the second you walk in.
