14. The Interlocked Fishtail Halo Updo
Fishtail braids are renowned for their intricate, scale-like appearance. While a classic fishtail can take time, its flat, wide structure makes it an ideal braid style for fine hair because it can be pancaked out to twice its original width without falling apart. For this updo, two fishtail braids are created on either side of a middle or side part.
These two widened braids are pulled around the back of the head and interlocked seamlessly, hiding the ends underneath the opposite braid’s weave. The result is a continuous, crown-like halo updo that sits gracefully along the head. The detailed texture of the fishtail weave draws attention to the craftsmanship of the style rather than the density of the hair itself.
