Spooky Spider Web Lanterns
Create an atmospheric, shadowed forest effect right on your tabletop with these spooky spider web lanterns. This technique involves using real, fine-mesh cheesecloth or medical gauze that has been dyed a dusty, ash-gray or charcoal black. By soaking the cloth in a mixture of black tea, grey acrylic paint, and water, you can achieve a perfectly weathered, aged look that mimics real cobwebs that have gathered dust over decades in an abandoned mansion.
Drape and stretch the darkened cheesecloth over the exterior of the mason jar, pulling it tight in some areas and letting it sag loosely in others to create a realistic, organic texture. Secure the cloth at the top and bottom with a thin layer of clear adhesive. Pop a bright, cool-toned LED light inside the jar.
