13. Distressed Book of Spells
Transform an old, unwanted hardcover book into an ancient, leather-bound grimoire. Use a hot glue gun to draw raised designs, such as a creepy eye, a pentagram, or abstract filigree, onto the cover. Drape a single layer of paper towel soaked in Mod Podge over the entire cover, pressing it firmly into the glue lines to create a wrinkled, leathery texture. Once dry, paint the book black and brown, then lightly rub gold wax or metallic paint over the raised details to make it look like a priceless antique spellbook.
