Vintage Book Page Bats
Ditch the stark black paper bats for a softer, more intellectual aesthetic using pages from discarded, yellowed vintage books. The delicate typography and aged paper texture add a scholarly, dark academia charm to your walls. When arranged in a sweeping, organic swarm across a fireplace, up a staircase, or around a mirror, these bats create a dynamic sense of movement that feels both artistic and spooky.
Find an old, damaged book at a thrift store and tear out the pages. Use a simple bat stencil to trace and cut out various sizes of bats. Fold each bat gently down the center to create three-dimensional wings that pop off the wall. Apply a small piece of removable mounting putty to the belly of each bat and arrange them in a natural, curving flight pattern, making it look as though they are escaping from a hidden chamber.
