Dark Academia Book Stack
Infuse your living space with the intellectual, moody atmosphere of dark academia by creating custom decorative book stacks. This DIY allows you to repurpose old, worn-out thrift store books into cohesive, beautiful decor pieces that look right at home next to a roaring fireplace, a brass magnifying glass, or a dripping beeswax candle.
Select three to five books of varying thicknesses. Tear off any shiny modern dust jackets to reveal the textured fabric bindings underneath. If the colors don’t match your aesthetic, wrap the covers in matte black, deep forest green, or rich burgundy paper. Bind the stack together using thick leather cord or frayed silk ribbon. Tuck a dried fern leaf, a feather quill, or a vintage skeleton key under the ribbon on top of the stack to complete the scholarly, antique look.
