15. Concrete Spider Web Stepping Stones

To make a stepping stone, use a round plastic plant saucer or a clean cake pan as your mold. Mix a batch of quick-setting concrete and pour it into the mold, tapping the sides gently to release any trapped air bubbles. While the concrete is still wet and malleable, use a thick stylus, a wooden dowel, or a large nail to press a deep spider web design into the surface. Let the concrete cure completely before popping it out of the mold. To make the web design pop, paint the cured stone with a dark grey wash and wipe away the surface paint, leaving the dark pigment settled deep within the recessed web lines.
