4. The Azalea Waterway Viaduct

4

A celebration of color and life, the Azalea Waterway Viaduct turns traditional stone construction into a vibrant floral showcase. Built with smooth stone, mossy cobblestone, and light gray terracotta, the bridge’s neutral palette acts as a canvas for lush azalea bushes and flowering oak leaf canopy overlays. Pink and purple particles softly drift through the air around the bridge, created by dense clusters of flowering azaleas planted along the balustrades. Small waterfalls cascade through intentionally broken sections of the stone railing, dropping into the river below. The inclusion of root blocks and hanging roots beneath the arches gives the impression that giant underground trees are slowly pushing the stone apart, creating a harmoniously overgrown passage.
