19. The Gothic Ivy Vault
Borrowing heavily from high gothic Victorian church design, the Gothic Ivy Vault features flying buttresses, tall vaulted ceilings, and dramatic rib-vault framing made of deepslate and polished basalt. Long, narrow lancet windows filled with clear and moss-green stained glass run along the sides, allowing dramatic streams of light to hit the central stone aisle. Monstrously thick ivy cascades down every structural rib, softening the heavy stone architecture with vibrant green life.
The interior floor is lined with polished blackstone paths flanked by stone troughs containing tall bamboo, sweet berry bushes, and drooping willow branches simulated using leaves and hanging vines. Small side chapels off the main nave act as dedicated mini-greenhouses for specific crop types, each lit by iron chandeliers hanging from high vaulted ceilings. The Gothic Ivy Vault brings a feeling of sacred reverence to the simple act of farming, making it an awe-inspiring place to visit during daily survival tasks.
