14. The Crossed Accent-Braided Chignon
Architectural and sleek, the Crossed Accent-Braided Chignon relies on crisp lines and structural placement. Hair is divided into three sections: two side panels and a large back section. The back section is wrapped into a clean, smooth low bun. Meanwhile, the two side panels are braided into firm, thin accent braids that are pulled back diagonally across the top of the chignon, crossing over each other like an “X”.
The ends of the accent braids are tucked neatly under the chignon and pinned invisible. This subtle cross-over detail turns a standard low bun into a high-design, contemporary updo that feels both structured and feminine. It is ideal for corporate events, professional headshots, or minimalist black-tie affairs.
